STUDENT ID CARDS

Most students should now have their student ID cards. I would like to encourage all students to bring their cards with them when they visit the library. The student cards are helpful to library staff when we are issuing loans and the cards also make printing easier and quicker.

ONLINE NEWSPAPERS

The library provides students with access to a range of online resources including access to online newspapers.

The Age Library Edition provides a digital replica of the daily print newspaper and an archive that goes back to 2006. This resource provides scope to research current events as well as explore the history of a particular topic.

Just recently we have expanded to provide online access to The Australian and the Herald Sun as well as other metropolitan and regional newspapers. News Corp online newspapers can be accessed by students on-site at school.

Links to online newspapers are on the library catalogue

WHEELERS BOOKS

We are happy to report on some amazing reading statistics on our Wheelers ePlatform. Our March and April statistics have shown increases of 78% and 63% on the same time last year. During March 2023 there were 121 loans on Wheelers compared with 68 during March 2022. Similarly, during April there were 106 loans compared to 65 during April last year.

Wheelers eBooks and audiobooks are available to students via the library catalogue.

BOOK OF THE WEEK

The following books have been featured during the last fortnight:

A Hunger of Thorns is a young adult fantasy novel that centers on Maude, a young girl who lost her wild, untamed nature after her magic was lost. However, when best friend Odette goes missing, Maude believes she is the only person who can save her, just as she did in the stories of slayed dragons and saved princes from their younger days. Fantasy fiction for 13+

The Quiet and the Loud is a novel about the contours of friendship, family, forgiveness, trauma and love that explores the stories we suppress and the stories we speak - and the healing that comes when we voice the things we've kept quiet for so long. Australian fiction for 15+
