AUSTRALIAN YOUTH BEACH VOLLEYBALL CHAMPIONSHIPS 2023

McKinnon Secondary College students have recently represented Victoria in the Australian Youth Beach Volleyball Championships, held in Coolangatta, during 27-30 March.

In the U15 Girls, Rosie O’Brien (Year 9) fought valiantly in the Gold Medal match against Queensland however lost in a close one with QLD winning 16-14 in the third set. Well done to James Kay (Year 11) placing 3rd in the U18 Boys.

An amazing effort to all our other athletes representing the state:

U15 Girls - Sophie Kay (Year 8) & Jasmin Rey (Year 8)

U16 Girls - Brit Apps (Year 9)

U17 Girls - Jaime Stefanidis (Year 10)

U18 Girls - Anita-Sofia Krapivsky (Year 11) & Kyla Peel (Year 11)

SEMESTER 1 BEEP TEST CHALLENGE

On Thursday 27 April the best of the Year 7 beep testers from each form descended on the gym to compete for the title of ‘The Best Beep Tester of 2023’.

It was an intense battle of the runners as the girls and boys competed against each other. A strong field was still running at level 9, but this was the turning point where only the fittest could survive.

As the beep test headed into level 10 there were only a handful of runners left, a very impressive effort for the Year 7’s. Our eventual winners were:

Boys competition

In 3rd place Frankie Hillier

In 2nd place Kynan Koolstra

In 1st place Finn Rowe Hansen

Girls competition

In 3rd place Ella Malhotra

In 2nd place Zoe Paech

In 1st place Jasmine Chilco-Burns

This was a fantastic effort from all of the Year 7 runners, well done!
