YOUNG VINNIES KOONDOOLA PRIMARY SCHOOL ABORIGINAL OUTREACH PROGRAM

On Monday afternoon, a group of eight Year 11 Young Vinnies members, accompanied by Mr Chris Kan and myself, visited Koondoola Primary School to take part in an Aboriginal Outreach Program. We were so excited to renew our friendship with the children we met last year, along with some fresh faces.

Our Year 11s were paired with the children and tasked with exploring their Nature Trail, where QR codes explaining the type of flora or fauna can be found. The students then came back to the classroom and completed some fact sheets about their discoveries.

It was heart warming to see our students and the little ones working side by side and discovering facts about Aboriginal language, plants, and animals.

As the weather was really hot, we were able to hide the Easter eggs in baskets in one of the classrooms. There were squeals of delight and big hugs when the little ones found the eggs.

We look forward to the children visiting the College next term.

This visit coincided with Harmony Week which encourages us to embrace all cultures and diversity in our community.
