Sports Update
Athletics Carnival
Our annual Athletics Carnival was held on Friday the 28th July. The day started unexpectedly for us, with a special guest appearance from a kangaroo who was keen to participate in all the track and field events. He drummed up much excitement from the crowd, however, he could not stay, so after some careful maneuvering, he was ushered from King George Oval.
Once again it was evident that we have an excellent parent body at our school who continuously put their hand up to volunteer at our events. Our parents were vital for the success of our Athletics Carnival and St Joseph’s is most appreciative of the time you gave to us. Thank you to the following people who helped on Friday; Matt Falconer, Adriana Pietsch, Steven McAllister, Kylie Neville, Jennie Dodds, Melissa Key, Jess Newberry, Sandy Key, Mark Barratt, Narelle Pietsch, Tess Lonergan, Nicole Watson, Shanelle Gunther, Greg Wright, Belinda Stanton, Allanah Price, Bridgitte Brummell, Fiona Meyer, Sal Floyd, Michelle Lawler, Julie Watson, Alise McBain, Linda Bruce, Kylie Falconer, Michael Van der Waal, Tahleia Gerlofsma, Jasmine Shields and Cameron Neville.
Thank you to the Lion’s Van, Melissa Bush from Floatin’ Around and Sal Floyd and her excellent P&F committee. We were well nourished and energised throughout the day thanks to your goodies you had available for us. Also, thank you to Steven McAllister and his team at the Council for preparing King George Oval for us. It was great to be back at this venue and having everything in one location.
I would like to congratulate all the students on their excellent sportsmanship and participation at the carnival. No matter the ability, everyone was having a go which resulted in everyone having a great day. Below are the results from the day.
