Learning Community 2

NAPLAN is finished! Well done to our wonderful Grade 3 students who worked very hard to complete the four NAPLAN assessments over the past two weeks. We would like to remind them that whilst these assessments are important, they are simply one assessment taken at one point in time, they are not reflective of who we are or what we know. We are beyond proud for how each student applied themselves and showed resilience. Well done!

Also this fortnight we have been busy getting stuck into our learning! In Reading, we explored the incredible story Stellaluna, and engaged with a range of comprehension tasks to demonstrate our understanding. We also explored the difference between facts and opinions. In Writing, we have enjoyed getting into our Narrative writing, and really working on increasing our writing stamina - that is, the number of words we can write in a set period of time. It has been amazing seeing students really challenge themselves to beat their personal records! In Maths, we started to look at Fractions, and moved into learning about Time. We explored the seasons, months and days in a calendar and looked at the different parts of an analogue clock.

Also over these two weeks we were very lucky to participate in a Soccer Clinic organised by Mr Craig. Thank you Mr Craig for organising these opportunities for our students to enjoy! This week was also Harmony Week, with Harmony Day being celebrated on Tuesday. Students enjoyed learning about the importance of Harmony Day, wrote Cinquain poems, and explored our own cultures and differences, both of which make us unique and interesting!
