Halloween Disco

"Last Friday the Halloween Disco was fun. And LOUD!

There were so many people. People had such good costumes.

I was a zombie student. My friend was in an Elvis Presley costume. He had interesting hair.

My other friend rick-rolled everyone because he requested the ‘Never Gonna Give You Up’ song.

It had colourful lights. The main colours were green, blue and pink.

The best fun was dancing."

"I went to the disco to have FUN!

It was the first time I have been to a Halloween Disco, it is not my first disco though.

Mum dropped me off and I signed in. Dad picked me up.

I hung out with Cem, Carsten and Fletcher. Fletcher was impressive because he was wearing a Las Vegas Elvis Presley costume.

I was a little bit scared because the costumes were freaking me out and I could not tell who everyone was. I could tell Cem because of his shoes. I could tell Carsten too because he was SCREAM!

I really loved the Pizza and I lined up twice to get two,

(you  were allowed to).

The costumes looked really good, and some of them I thought were real. I actually got tricked by the fake cigarettes.

The best song they played was ‘Never Gunna Let You Down’. I was hoping the DJ would play ‘Tiny Dancer’. My mum loves that song.

On the dance floor, there was some spooky dance moves and a conga line. I didn’t really dance, but I enjoyed being chased by the T-Rex (The Jonosaurus- rex). He had some really roarsome dance moves.

IT WAS FUN!"

"Last Friday the Halloween Disco was fun. The costumes were COOL.

I wore a Las Vegas Elvis Presley costume.

My friend went dressed as a zombie.

My family had a rock star theme, my sister dressed as David Bowie.

I ate Pizza.

My photo was taken about fifteen times. Sometimes with my sister and lots on my own.

My friend said my hair was phenomenal!"

Grades 1 and 2

Grade 2 sleepover

Oliver R (2C) "We arrived and then we played for a while. Then we went inside and we set up our beds in the classrooms. We had a lot of fun watching Chicken Run and eating snacks. We had a break half way through the movie and went to the staff room for hot chocolate. We slept in the classrooms and then we woke up at 6am and packed up before going home."

In preparation for the sleepover, grade 2 students engaged in roleplay and shared ideas to minimise anxiety. The photo above shows an example of how students considered ways in which their soft toy might help them feel safe while away from their home.

Check out the other photos from the night below!

Over the last few weeks students in grade 2 studied the life cycle of chickens, and watched as chicks hatched in their classroom incubator.  Jude from grade 1 volunteered to adopt some of the chicks. We hope they enjoy their new home.

Grades 3 and 4

Grade 3 and 4 students have been making ice cream as part of an inquiry unit science experiment. The delicious results supported their hypothesis that lowering the temperature of the liquid ingredients would change it into a solid!

Another experiment involved bicarb soda and vinegar and resulted in an expanding balloon and a lot of laughter. And a third experiment created an oobleck using corn flour.

Alex "We made oobleck using corn flour and water."

Gah-Yun "It is a non-newtonian fluid, which means that it is two states of matter. When pressure is applied it becomes a solid and when it is not applied it becomes a liquid"

Flynn "We made home-made icecream with cream, milk, vanilla essence and sprinkles. We put it in a ziplock bag and put it in another bag with ice and salt and shook it until it became a solid"
