5/6 ADANAC CAMP

This week the Year 5’s and 6’s went to ADANAC Yarra Junction camp. We spent our 3 days enjoying the fun activities they had planned for us. They were Flying fox, Canoeing, Disc golf , Camp cooking, Low ropes, Hut building and Beach volleyball. The food was unreal, delicious and everyone wanted seconds. One of our most favourite activities was the water slide. It was 110m . Our fastest slide was Sian at a whopping speed of 50km per hour. With the warm heaters in our cabin the cold nights didn't bother us. On Monday night we couldn't go on a night walk so instead we enjoyed the fun trivia Mrs Peake made. Congratulations to team Sugar High: Grace, Nicolette and Lily who won.  On Tuesday night we all enjoyed watching the movie, Raya and the Last Dragon.

Year 1 Excursion to Bendigo Pottery

Last Friday the 18th of November, all the Year 1 children went on an exciting excursion to Bendigo Pottery. The purpose of the excursion was to use the Design Process to plan and make a clay creation. The excursion was an excellent opportunity to make links to our Inquiry unit about Design in a fun context.

“We hopped off the bus and we sat down inside Bendigo Pottery. We listened carefully to the introduction presented by staff on what we were going to do. We were instructed to use our pre-made plans to shape a clay model and give it to someone special. After we knew what to do, and how to work with the cly, we put on our aprons (with a little bit of help). We all got a tub of clay and some utensils. The clay felt hard as a rock. We worked the clay for a while to warm it up first. Then we got into the making phase of our clay creations. It was amazing because everyone made totally different things. Our creations looked wonderful.”

“I learnt to make a star out of clay and my favourite part was playing with my friends and getting an award.” - Maisy

“I learnt how to make a gingerbread man and he was drinking water.” - Reiltin

“I learnt how to carve clay, and my favourite part of the day was making a bowl out of clay.” - Oliver

“I learnt how to carve clay into a bowl, and my favourite part of the day was playing in the gardens.” - George
