CCC Basketball

The O'Connor Intermediate Boys Basketball Team after qualifying for, played in the NSWCCC state finals held at Bankstown this week. Our basketballers matched up against much bigger schools who seemed to have much taller players over 2 days. Our pool games against Marcellin College Randwick, St Johns Dubbo, MacKillop College Port Macquarie  Clancy College Hoxton Park were all hard fought and close encounters which led us into the Plate Quarter finals where we were pipped on the post to Corpus Christi College in Oak Flat. Our boys were warriors all weekend, many of whom had never seen that standard of basketball let alone competing in it. Our team consisted of John Harris, Gabe Harris, Tommy Schaeffer, Joe Schmude, Macklin Ross, Ben Ferguson, Jonothan Irving Frost, Hunter Booth, Forest Warburton and Robbie Flint.

Many thanks to John Harris Snr who coached the side and I must say instilled the importance of hard country defence amongst our players much to the irritation of all teams we played. Also thanks to Tammi Booth and Bob Flint who helped with the transport and management of our team. Soon, a gym will be unveiled at O'Connor and you can expect our basketballers to be even better.

We are excited to share the news that Anastasia Martin (Year 12, 2021) has been selected in the Australia Women's Rugby 7s Rising Stars Squad. This is a huge achievement, especially due to the fact that the Commonwealth and Olympic Teams are selected from this group of elite athletes. Well done Anastasia.
