Principal Report
Shannon Ross
Dear students & families,
I am very excited to announce, that after a rigorous Principal selection process, that I have been offered and have happily accepted the role of Woodmans Hill Secondary College Principal (provisional) from 2025.
I am very honoured to continue in this role, and lead the future direction of this amazing College and community.
As Principal, I will always look to grow and develop our organisation so that we are at the forefront of best-practice and I will not shy away from change in order to achieve this. I have a clear vision of a school that has, at it’s heart, the values of respect, determination and excellence and I will model these in every interaction. Ours will be a school where everyone feels known and valued. Where relationships are prioritised as central to growth and wellbeing is emphasised because you cannot have top-quality learning without a sense of safety and belonging. We are and will continue to be a community of diverse individuals who understand the importance of true inclusion, because it is our differences, and the things that make us individuals, that make us stronger together.
Woodmans Hill will be an environment of supported challenge, a place where we all feel safe to step outside what we already know into a place where we might just learn something new and be able to revel in this and celebrate together.
Empowerment is a key term for me and it is central to what I view my role as principal to be.
I will look to empower you, our students, through ensuring you receive a top-quality education because you deserve the best. I will seek your voice and consult you about your education and wellbeing, because I understand that you are at the heart of our school and are the reason we are here. No one can speak with more truth about the learning and care at Woodmans than you. I will work to ensure that you have the skills to make excellent growth in your learning and achieve your pathway of choice. We will create a community that empowers you to believe in yourselves as much as we believe in you.
Parents, I will ensure that your child is known, and not just a face in the crowd, because this is what makes Woodmans special, and I will ensure that their development is prioritised and nurtured. I will commit to opening our school to you, to seek your counsel and hear your experiences and perspectives. A strong community is a connected one and I will seek partnerships and opportunities for our young people in our Ballarat community and beyond. I will advocate for our school and students and ensure that what we do continues to be recognised and celebrated throughout the network and system.
Together, I cannot wait to embark on this journey of growth with you all!
