Art

The last few weeks in art have seen some incredible achievements with all students. Students have been working all year on their creative thinking and reflection skills and learning to enjoy the art process rather than focussing on the actual ‘end product’ they create. It has been an absolute joy to see this throughout all year levels in different ways. The 3-6 students had reflected on their amazing ceramic pieces they created that were inspired by nature and the challenges and aspects they enjoyed whilst creating them. Their incredible nature inspired trinket dishes are on display at the front office area.

F-2 students, after finishing their Australian bird mobiles, were immersed in exploring colour, line, shape and texture of ‘the ocean’ last week. Their response to watching an underwater video was creating an ocean scene with oil pastel and chalk on black paper. These will also be on display so if you are in the school take some time to look at our Art.

We also congratulate Indi Wild on being a finalist for the People’s Choice Award at the MacKillop Art Exhibition. We will post the link when receive it for the voting on our Facebook page.

STEM

Following on from last week’s visit by beekeeper, Craig Smith, this week we worked on pollination. The Junior students had a wonderful time being ‘worker bees’ and spreading the pollen (yummy cheesy puff crumbs) from flower to flower. While the Senior students had a go at making a replica flower using a cup, pipe cleaners and some paprika as pollen. They explored all of the important parts of the flower that are involved in the pollination process.
