Art News Week 8 Term 4

The Art room continues to be a hub of creativity, enthusiasm, and personal growth, as our talented students continue to lean into trusting themselves, their ideas, and their abilities.

Our junior students were incredibly excited to see their individual concentric circles transformed into a collaborative mobile sculpture! Wow! What a delightful array of colours they have created!

The ever-curious middle school students have been learning about international Brazilian artist Romero Britto, and his unique, colourful artwork. Many students were amazed to learn, that Romero, who lives in Florida, United States of America, began his career, as a humble 8 year old, painting on newspapers and cardboard boxes. Students are using his wish to spread joy through colourful art, as inspiration for their own designs…watch this space, there are some amazing pieces in the making!

After completing their incredible graduation sketches, our senior students have begun a new unit of work, exploring the visual aspect to natural disasters. Through the model of student voice and agency, students have chosen the type of natural disaster they will be creating and the resources they will be using to do so. Students have enjoyed engaging in rich discussions with their peers, around their subject choice and the vision they have for their artwork. It has been wonderful to hear the students speak so enthusiastically about their visions and articulate both how they are creating their artwork, along with why they have chosen the specific resources to assist them in creating their artwork.

Keep believing in yourselves, we think you are all amazing!
