Vocal Soirees in the Junior and Senior School
Last Wednesday, we held both the Junior School and Senior School Vocal Soirees. The Senior School Vocal Soiree followed on from the Junior School event. Parents, friends and students came to support and watch the extremely talented students perform.
There were many fabulous and entertaining pieces. Throughout the evening, students performed a variety of songs, spanning across jazz, classical and contemporary pieces.
Here's an account from Year 6 student, Otis, regarding his experience of the night.
Otis Fifoot, Year 6
A few days ago, I sang at the Kilvington Junior School Vocal Soiree, where I was first up to perform. Though I was scared, I also had quite a lot fun. I had to sing "Little People", a song which carries the message that no matter how big you are, you still have disadvantages.
The chorus says, 'a worm can roll a stone', 'a bee can sting a bear', 'a fly can fly around Versailles', 'a sparrow in a hut can make a happy home', 'a flea can bite the bottom of the Pope in Rome'! I highly recommend participating in this singing soirée.
Moana Jr - Junior School Production
This year’s Junior School Production of Moana Jr promises to be a combination of funny, heartfelt and entertaining.
Our Years 5 and 6 students have worked tremendously hard to put together a fabulous show for the Kilvington Community. Featuring well-known songs and perfectly synchronised choreography, it will be a night for all to enjoy. This year, we are thrilled to have two casts, which offers an exciting opportunity for more students to take the lead on stage.
Special thanks to Head of Junior School Music, Miss Fiona Radford, and Performing Arts teachers, Mrs Melissa Waked and Miss Amy Potts, for all their energy, enthusiasm and encouragement in co-directing the show. Thank you also to the Years 5 and 6 Classroom teachers and the entire Production Team for all their support and hard work.
Join us in showing your support for our Junior School students on two spectacular evenings as we bid farewell to Term 3 with a bang.
- Tuesday 12 and Thursday 14 September, 7.30pm start.

Music Masterclasses
The Masterclasses we offer have been steadily gaining popularity among students of all levels. Led by Mr Paul Jenkins and Mrs Kate Cole, these sessions provide a valuable opportunity for students to enhance their performance skills.
During these classes, students are encouraged to showcase their musical abilities in front of their peers, receive constructive feedback, and engage in general musical discussion. Topics such as performance anxiety, musical expression, and performance etiquette have been significant areas of focus during this term.
VCE Vocal Masterclass with Elly Poletti
On Friday 1 September, our VCE Music repertoire students, Renae Bekas and Freya Watters, had the privilege of participating in a vocal masterclass led by the talented Melbourne singer, Elly Poletti.
During the session, Elly provided valuable insights into various aspects of vocal performance, including technique, dynamics, tone quality, stage presence, movement, style, and interpretation, all of which are crucial for aspiring vocalists.
The girls came away with some valuable ideas and techniques that they can incorporate into their upcoming performance exams in the first week of October.
Elly recently gained recognition by appearing on the TV show The Voice, where she captured the attention of all four judges. She then successfully made it to the next round, and will once again be appearing on the show this Sunday evening.
Congratulations Daniel Wu!
Yesterday, Daniel Wu from Year 1 played Etude from Suzuki Book 1 in front of his class friends. This was Daniel’s debut performance. Daniel is currently preparing for his upcoming solo performance at the Assembly.
