Welcome back for another year of Health & PE.
Some important reminders for students for 2023 for consideration when they have Health & PE on their timetable:
- In Term 1 and Term 4, all students are required to wear hats when in practical PE classes. Sunscreen is also encouraged, and we have a small amount available if students do not have their own. We encourage students to have their own supply that the can use throughout each day.
- On days where a student has a practical PE lesson, students are able to wear their PE uniform for the entire day. They are able to get changed prior to or at the end of a lesson if they wish, however will no longer be required to as in previous years. We would encourage students to consider bringing a change of clothes on days where it may be wet and muddy so that they have a clean set of clothes for the remainder of the day.
- On days that students are scheduled for Health or theory based PE lessons, they should be in their normal school uniform.
What has been happening in HPE?
During Week 1 of the term, our Year 12 PE class facilitated a volleyball session for our Year 9 Court Sports elective. During this session, they Year 12 students were able to demonstrate their coaching skills as they worked through a skill acquisition-based session with the Year 9s. The Year 12 students demonstrated exceptional leadership throughout the session, completely controlling all activities, and our Year 9s were brilliant participants, being respectful and giving a personal best effort during all activities. The session concluded with some mixed volleyball games where Year 12 students teamed up with Year 9s, putting the skills they had just learnt into practice.

Both the pool and athletics track are outdoors, so please ensure your child/children bring sunscreen and other suitable sun protection, such as a hat, preferably in house colours, protective clothing and plenty of fluids for the day.
All students are expected to attend the Carnivals and be aware of the following arrangements:
- Students will report to their Home Group at 9.00am, ready to leave by bus by 9.15am
- All students are encouraged to wear their House colours to support their House
- Canteens at both venues will operate throughout the day, but best to BYO lunch, snacks and drinks as there were huge waits in the queue last time
- No body paint to be worn on buses (this is a bus company directive)
- At Swimming carnival - the centre has requested that students not be dressed in lifeguard costumes
At the conclusion of the day, approximately 2.15pm, students will board the buses in their Home Groups.
Programs for the day’s events will be available at the College Office closer to the time.
Additional activities such as dive bomb competition, bocce, fashions on the field and others will be offered on the day alongside traditional swimming and athletic events.
