Focus on Learning

Stage 1 - Mrs Sharnie Meade

Mathematics Work

Last week, Year 1 and 2 became authors of their very own books!  First, we looked at some mathematical books as examples, and then we began to create our own Maths Books that could be used to teach students about different areas of Maths.  We wrote about numbers, adding, subtracting, groups of (multiplication), as well as other maths topics of our own choosing.

Look at our excellent work:

This week, our focus is Volume and Capacity.  We have been using the sandpit to investigate the different capacity of containers.  We have had to estimate, and then measure to see if our estimates are correct.  Here are some photos of us having fun in the sandpit while learning:

Literacy

During literacy time, students have been working hard on their STAR words. Congratulations to ALL students in our class who have been practising these words at home, and at school.  We have made such fabulous improvements and I am so excited to see this continue into 2023!

Farewell to Mrs Taylor

We are so thankful to have had Mrs Taylor assisting in our class for the last two terms.  Mrs Taylor has helped with our Maths and Literacy and has been a wonderful addition to our classroom, supporting many students to work towards their goals.  We will miss you Mrs Taylor!
