Music Matters

Welcome to the Performing Arts for 2023! Our team of talented and dedicated Music and Drama teachers and tutors are excited to bring our St Pius X College students a range of performance and composition opportunities throughout the year.

All ensembles will begin rehearsals next week. If you are unsure of which ensemble will suit you, come and have a chat with either the Ensemble Coordinator, Ms Stella Talati, stalati@stpiusx.nsw.edu.au or myself, Mrs Westhoff, AWesthoff@stpiusx.nsw.edu.au

2023 SPX Ensembles Information

Wishing everyone a warm welcome to the SPX Ensembles Programme! 2023 is shaping up to be another very exciting year for all our ensembles and participants. For the application form click here.

All rehearsals commence in Week 2.

Please note the updated Ensemble Rehearsal Schedule listed in the attachment below for the correct time/day/venue for your son’s rehearsal. If you have not yet received a confirmation email, please let me know via STalati@stpiusx.nsw.edu.au.

I am particularly excited to announce the SPX Endangered Instrument Programme. This initiative seeks to promote and encourage the learning of some of our most wonderful but rare instruments, such as the Flute, Oboe, Bassoon, French Horn, Tuba, and many more. Quite a few students learn one or more instruments here at St Pius X, and we are keen to involve not only current learners but new students who might not have considered any of these beautiful instruments. There will be more information forthcoming over the next couple of weeks but if you would like to contact me to discuss this further, please do so. I am really looking forward to seeing some of these incredible instruments ‘out in the open’!

Best wishes to all for a fantastic year of music-making here at SPX!
