Welcome!

A warm welcome to all members of our community from our Year Coordinators, Counsellors, and Pastoral Care Teams. It is great to see so many smiling faces of students and relieved parents as students both begin and continue their Pastoral Care journey and story through the College.

Student Absences

  • Attendance Rolls are marked in Admin or Assembly time which runs from 8.42 am – 8.57 am​.  
  • Parents are required to explain any student absence at their earliest opportunity by:​
  1. Ringing the attendance line:  9414 4377 (prior to 9.00 am)​
  2. Emailing The Attendance Roll Manager: studentmanagement@stpiusx.nsw.edu.au​ (prior to 9.00 am)​ or​
  3. Providing a written/printed note explaining the absence on the next available opportunity.​
  • Communication must be addressed to College staff and include the student’s full name, date/s of absence, student’s year and class group, reason for absence, likely return date, signatory’s details, relationship to the student and return contact.​
  • An email confirming any absence is sent to parents at approximately 11.00 am so please alert the college to any anomalies or corrections required as soon as possible.
  • Any Extended period of Leave must be requested by completing the form found on the College website. This form is to be completed pre-emptively where a student is planning to be absent from the College for three or more days. Complete the following Application for Leave/Exemption from Attendance at School Form and return to the relevant Year Coordinator or Head of Junior School for his/her signature.

EREA Student Leaders' National Gathering

Congratulations to College Captain 2023 Eamon Boyle who represented the College with distinction at the Edmund Rice Education Australia National Student Leaders' gathering which St Pius X College jointly hosted at Mary Mackillop Centre North Sydney. 

Student leaders from EREA and Christian Brothers' Associate schools from Western Australia (Aquinas, Trinity, Freo, Aranmore), Tasmania (St Virgil's), South Australia (Rostrevor, CBC Adelaide and St Paul's), Victoria (St Bernard's, St Mary's (formerly CBC St Kilda), North Melbourne, Parade, St Kevin's, Ballarat, Geelong and Colac), Queensland (Yeppoon, Charters Towers, Townsville, Gympie, St Laurence's, Ambrose Treacy, Ipswich, Nudgee, and Gregory Terrace) as well as our NSW host schools: Gosford, Wollongong, Penrith, Waverley, Strathfield, Lewisham and St Pius X College Chatswood attended!

Highlights included: a Welcome to Country by Cammeraygal Elder Professor Dennis Foley, a BBQ hosted by St Pius X Vice Captains Mitch McGrath and Josh Bewley, student leaders: Henrik Hogg and Tomo Wilkins, and new College Principal Mr Michael Ronchetti; A journey "on country" to Manly with a ferry ride across Sydney Harbour; An Uluru Statement From The Heart presentation by outgoing founder of the Edmund Rice Centre Mr Phil Glendenning, supported by SPX staff and St Mary’s Teachers College originals: Mr Rick Russo and Mr Mark Casey. 

The College is grateful to the SPX Old Boys' Association, P & F, staff and students for their generous support of this event which enhanced both our best traditions and legacies, and future, through the great qualities of our young leaders.

 

St Pius X College Reconciliation Action Plan Student Team delivers our Year 7 Christmas Giving to St Mary’s Primary School Bowraville

The College was extremely proud of our Student Reconciliation Action Plan Team who were invited to travel to St Mary’s Bowraville by Principal Nadine Slingsby to celebrate end of year Mass with the community, deliver our Year 7 Christmas Giving gifts, spend some time On Country with Gumbayngirr Education Officer Mark Smith, cook lunch for the school and spend a day in lessons and sports activities.

Thank you to Year 11 RAP Leaders: Patrick Frost, Dominic Mitchell, and Eliot Sanders, Year 9 RAP team members: Sean O’Donnell, Lucas Gleeson, Sam Ferguson and Brayzen Sargent, and Year 8 RAP team: Matari Webster, Charlie O’Donnell, Zac Rapa, and Brad Newman along with Mr Stollery and Mr Russo. This small Aboriginal community were so grateful for the visit and ongoing connection with St Pius through their work.       

St Pius X College Year 11 student and Australian Junior Representative Gymnast John Carroll

Congratulations to Year 11 Student John Carroll who was selected in the 5 strong Australian Team to contest the International Junior Gymnastics title in Austria last November. John did himself and his team proud finishing 13th Overall and ranking 1st of our Australian representatives.

John is a dedicated athlete who balances his training commitments and his studies with great diligence. He is a great example of what can be achieved with a quietly determined approach to succeed and we, along with his family, are proud to be able to support him in his endeavours!

Year 7 EREA Touchstone Induction Day

Year 7 students will wear sports uniform and travel by Bus to Oxford Falls for the day where they will learn about what it means to be an Edmund Rice student at St Pius X College Chatswood, how they can form an inclusive community as the Year 12 Class of 2028, and draft a letter to an Edmund Rice student in another hemisphere of the World.

Students interested in attaining Eddie Rice Hours alongside our Brigidine and Monte Sant Angelo counterparts through the St Anthony’s Landcare program should take note of the dates of the program below, and see Mr Brannan with any queries.
