Science Week

It was great to see so many Year 7s involved in the lunchtime activities for Science Week. Many of the Year 7 classes made rockets during their Science class last week, and to start Science Week they launched them at lunchtime on Monday. Some rockets were tall, some rockets were small, some fizzled and some really projected into the sky. It was wonderful to see the Year 7s interact with the Year 12 Science leaders for this activity.

Uniform Matters

With the colder weather it has become apparent that some Year 7 and 8 students are choosing to wear their PE uniform even when they do not have PE. This is not an option. If students are wearing the incorrect uniform, they need to report to their Student Manager in the morning, with a note from home, to receive a uniform pass. Students who do not have a note will complete a community service at lunchtime.

Congratulations Zara Wilson 7C

Zara Wilson has been selected as one of the seven finalists for the Junior Lord Mayor Competition. This is a competition for students aged 10 to 13 years and aims to raise awareness about Melbourne, instil civic pride and highlight Melbourne's journey since being founded in 1835.  They had a record number of entries this year, all of which were of a high standard. The next stage includes face-to-face interviews before a panel of judges to pick the overall winner — the 2019 Junior Lord Mayor of Melbourne. Good luck Zara for the final which is held next Wednesday 24 August in the Chambers Room at the Melbourne Town Hall.
