Debating

We are pleased to announce that 24 students from Years 7 and 8 will be participating in the DAV (Debating Association of Australia) Junior Schools debating training and competition over coming weeks.

The debates will be held at the hosting school  Mentone Girls' Grammar School and other participating schools are  Mentone Grammar School and Kilbreda College.

The topics  are:

  • That we should ban junk food in schools.
  • That we should value literature more than science.
  • That we should restrict the drivers licences of senior citizens.

This is a wonderful opportunity for our students to gain important skills in public speaking, critical thinking and team work. Thank you to all students who have given up their time to participate in the program and to the English staff for their assistance in preparing students.
