Yr2 Healesville Sanctuary Excursion
On Saturday 22nd April the Year 4s went on a walk around Cape Woolamai, Phillip Island. The walk was 8.5 kilometers long.
We learnt about Matthew Flinders and George Bass and their arrival in Australia.
When we all arrived at the beach everyone was excited about the walk. The beach had waves crashing to the shore and there was a giant granite stone. The cliffs and hills were steep.
18 happy walkers started on our journey. We walked and Mrs van Heerden asked some questions about where the First Fleet landed and what they did. We walked and walked for ages till we got to a beacon and had lunch. We walked for about 4 hours. It was a great day.

On Friday 28th April, the Year 2 students went on an excursion to Healesville Sanctuary. In Term 1 the students looked at endangered and extinct animals of Australia in Sustainability. The excursion enabled the students to get up close to the endangered animals and understand the important part we can play in fighting extinction.
Some of the highlights were feeding the parrots, wallabies and endangered Helmeted Honey Eater. The students had the opportunity to ask many of the rangers on hand, questions about the animals and the impact we have on the environment. Students gained a further understanding of the important part we play in looking after the beautiful creation God has given us.

In the last week of Term 1, the Year 1s enjoyed Special Person Afternoon with our grandparents, aunts, uncles, and special friends. We showed off our singing talents by singing some Bible verses and then we did craft activities. Our grandparents helped us with the tricky bits. To end the afternoon, we listened to some of our guests as they did Show and Tell. They told us about things that are really old and showed us awesome things. We saw a really old handmade teddy, an old cassette player, a very old mobile phone and spinning top and many other exciting things. What a fantastic afternoon!
Declan: It was great! I liked making the dragonfly peg best of all.
Noah: It was exciting and having my aunt here was really nice.
Cynthia: It was a fun afternoon. I enjoyed listening about the old spinning top.
