Juvenile Diabetes Walk

This week's Walk for Lachie took place at Duncan Mackinnon where staff and students joined together to remember and celebrate Lachie Cook.

It was also an opportunity to raise funds for research into Juvenile Diabetes. Our community has raised more than $18,000 for JDRF. An incredible effort.

Thank you to everyone who supported this initiative and donated funds. You can donate here

Volunteer Thank You

On 25 November, we held our Volunteer Thank You event. It was wonderful to celebrate the vital contribution that our volunteers make to our community.

Special shout out to our PFA which works tirelessly to provide opportunities to connect with so many events and programs at Kilvington. There was a lot of love in the room!

SchoolTV - Climate Change

The media coverage of climate change activist, Greta Thunberg, not only helped raise awareness of this issue, but it has also instilled fear in many young people. Children around the world are feeling overwhelmed by the magnitude of the issue.

They are getting caught up in a doomsday scenario and collective hysteria that is causing, what is now termed as ‘eco-anxiety’.

As parents and care-givers, it is important to understand how best to diffuse a child’s anxiety relating to impending environmental disasters.

In this SchoolTV Special Report parents and care givers are shown with strategies on how to approach conversations on environmental issues that are age appropriate.

Barry Wood Memorial Social Justice Grant

We are very pleased to announce that our Community Service Program Director, Mrs Goldenberg, has been successful in her application for the IEU - Independent Education Union Victoria Tasmania Barry Wood Memorial Social Justice Grant.

This grant of $3000 is made in memory of Barry Wood, an outstanding educator, unionist and social justice advocate, and is designed to promote social justice issues in schools.

The grant will go towards registration fees for students, parents and teachers, participating in Connor's Run, allowing them to focus their efforts of fundraising for the Robert Connor Dawes Foundation.

Thank you for your hard work Ms Goldenberg!
