Girls’ in Physics Day at Melbourne University

A group of year 10’s recently went to attend a seminar on Girls in Physics at Melbourne University. There they were introduced to influential women in the world of physics. They were shown many different career and education pathways that are currently evolving and becoming more and more recognised to be reliant on physics. Mr Kazi led the excursion of 11 girls who have developed a love for physics and this conference helped foster that ever further. Big thanks to Mr Kazi who has inspired many to pursue an education in Physics and continue exploring the universe and its many mysteries. Through the exploration of planetary relations and geology of the moon, the girls were able to see a career that is male dominated in a more female light, throwing away the typical ideas of what a physicist looks like. As one woman said “you can’t be what you can’t see.” Thank you again Mr Kazi and MGC for allowing us to have this amazing opportunity. We hope in the future more girls take an interest in physics as it really is the future!
