Principal's Report
Principal's Report
As we enter Week 4 of this term I would like to wish all of our mothers in our school and parish community a very happy Mother's Day this Sunday. Mother's Day is a wonderful celebration of a mother's love, compassion, nurture and care for their children. It is also a day we celebrate the importance of having strong female role models in our lives. We hope all of our children spoil their mums this Sunday!
We would like to announce the appointment of Mrs Melanie Pizzonia to Year 5/6R one day per week to release Rosalba Squarci in her whole school leadership role as Religious Education Leading Teacher. We had a number of applicants for this position and Melanie comes to us with a wealth of teaching experience. We warmly welcome Melanie and her family into our friendly school community.
We also would like to inform you that Catherine Talarico has accepted a one day/ week position as our Sustainability/ Kitchen Garden Program coordinator. We look forward to the implementation of some great initiatives and the continuation of this popular program throughout the whole school.
A reminder that there is a significant discount for all school fees paid by 30th June. We ask you to pay your 2017 school fees as soon as possible. There are a number of payment options available. Please ring Lynette Gamble on 9478 8374 to discuss.
If you are currently experiencing financial difficulties please contact Lynette in the office to make an appointment to meet with me to discuss payment options.
A reminder that there is a School Education Board meeting tonight (Tuesday 9th May) at 7 pm in the staff planning area. Access via the Breen Street entrance. All interested members of our parent community are invited to come along and get involved in this parent group to support whole school improvement.
The Playground/ Outdoor Learning Space parent committee have been working tirelessly behind the scenes collating ideas from surrounding playgrounds for the redevelopment of our school grounds. There have already been some works completed along the Breen Street boundary and around the entrance to the school with the installation of a green wall, the removal and replacement of the old chain fence and a new undercover canopy to be constructed in the coming weeks which will provide the children with shelter at drop off and pick up. This will complete Stage One of the proposed redevelopment. Stage Two of the process will then turn to the junior playground area near the Church with the installation of a Sound Garden area. A Conceptual Masterplan has been attached below for your perusal. As you may be aware the existing adventure playground has had many sections removed lately following an annual audit conducted by an approved playground consultant. Due to OH&S concerns, there are a number of sections which had to be removed over the last holidays and we look forward to working towards our plan of replacing and rejuvenating this area during Stage 3 of the masterplan when the required funds are raised.
A detailed costing of the playground replacement will be made available after we receive the quotes from various suppliers and installers.
The Playground/ Outdoor Learning Space parent committee will be meeting again this Friday morning from 9 am in the staff planning area to discuss various playground ideas and plans. All new parent volunteers are welcome to join the meeting.
