University of Melbourne Science Program

University of Melbourne science students delivered a program to engage our Year 8 students in science on Thursday 5 and Friday 6 December. Students observed demonstrations, heard about university life and participated in a workshop to design an item to solve a problem.

I personally really enjoyed the science program. There were a variety of activities and experiments that were very interesting, which kept me engaged throughout the whole program. I actually got picked to help one of the Melbourne University students execute an experiment and although it completely failed the first time, it worked the second. Apart from all the cool and educational experiments, my favourite part of the program was when they told us about themselves, their experiences at Uni and had time for questions and answers. They shared some of their struggles throughout their time at Uni and it was quite reassuring to know that it is ok to struggle and that there are ways to overcome it. Overall, I really enjoyed the whole program and would definitely like to have them come back again!
