New Library Books

Student Book Reviews

Wow. Just wow. I don’t even know how to start. This book is honestly phenomenal. This book is pretty new, so when I was going into the library, I wasn’t actually looking for this book, but I’m very happy I found it. More Than This is about a boy who commits suicide, only to wake up in a deserted, strange place. The twists and turns that occur throughout the story and the cliff hangers that make you never want to stop reading. I don’t want to spoil anything, but in short, I would recommend this book to everyone and anyone. Every page you turn brings you deeper and deeper into the story and unravels the plot more and more as you go on. This is one of the best books I’ve ever read in my entire life, and if you want an emotional rollercoaster (I cried a lot), then definitely pick this up at your closest library.

‘Carry On’ by Rainbow Rowell is just as a magical as the World of Mages introduced in the novel.

Simon and Baz are roommates at Watford, a secluded school for witches and wizards. Simon Snow is The Chosen One. He has been prophesised to defeat the evil Insidious Humdrum, a monster which is swallowing magic from the core. Yet Baz, an evil vampire and sworn enemy of Simon, thinks the world and himself have already lost against the Humdrum. But, maybe, for the first time Baz may be wrong. About everything.

I rate this 5/5 stars. I am already reading this a second time and maybe even again. It’s so fresh, and exciting. The story has an arch and so do the characters. Nothing could tear me apart from this book and all the magic it holds within the pages. And I quote: ‘Carry On is a ghost story, a love story, and a mystery. It has just as much kissing and talking as you’d expect from a Rainbow Rowell novel- but far, far more monsters.’ The book is perfect! I didn’t know I wanted a read like this until I finished the book. I recommend it to anyone, everyone, and every single one of you to read it.
