Yr 10 Outdoor Education – Mt Stirling Hike

Yr 10 reflection – Anon

Sitting on a cradle like rock on the summit of Mt Stirling, I began to cry a few tears. The teacher had read a poem and no-one had made me question whether I was living my life properly. I then went on to think about how the mountains surrounding me must have sat there for quite some time, and would continue to do so after even after I die, seemly eternal and un-phased. I decided like them, that I would distance myself from the trivial aspects of society, and not care so much about what other people thought. Rather than hold back for fear of getting hurt, be open to everyone and everything and enjoy life. The view sparks your imagination.

Yr 10 poem – Chantelle Campbell

The cold Breeze,

Bring chilss to my knees.

Blue sky and no-one in sight

Brings quite an experience for ones delight.

My legs may be in pain,

But I shall not complain,

As I sit here on the summit, watching the wind blow

I realise how much I needed this to let my thoughts flow.

Now as I saw goodbye for the last time today,

I definatley will be back here one day, by car or in some way.

Yr 9 Outdoor Education – Cathedral Ranges Hike

Yr 9 Reflection – Maddy

For me, camp was an interesting opportunity to stop and think about what I find interesting and what I enjoy without the pressures of the people around me. It also helped me to realise that I can find curiosity and adventure in any experience. It was such an adventurous setting out on the hike having no idea what you might cross and the things you may learn. I learnt that while on camp people don’t have the pressures of the modern world so it was really fascinating to see a different side of everyone. I enjoyed looking up at the stars and having a long conversation with my friends, a conversation we would not normally have. On the last day, sitting down and having time to think to ourselves, and the process of writing has really helped me to appreciate what a great experience camp was.
