Year 8 Engagement Day

On Wednesday, 18 October, Year 8 students participated in an Engagement Day. These days have been designed to have a positive effect on the mental health of a particular year level by covering some serious issues, but also by including some fun ways to relieve stress and just relax. Last Wednesday’s event included presentations about consent from Alli Williams our school nurse, Mindfulness from our Chaplain Lisa Cochrane and two guests from Headspace to discuss Mental Health. On the lighter side were a session of Muso, Mingo, Bingo run by our own students and a perennial crowd-favourite: dodgeball! Students quickly devoured a free morning tea provided by their mentors, and had chips at lunch and an ice cream to wind down the day. They were also able to enjoy the day in casual free-dress. We got very lucky with the weather, as it was a lovely, warm, relaxing day. If any parents have any feedback for us on this day, please let us know.

2018 CSC Second-hand Books and Uniform Sale

Watch this space... Date announced soon...

We all know that getting our kids in uniform and ticking everything off on the booklists can be expensive. So we've set up a sale where you can trade with other families instead of buying everything new. This also gives you a chance to make some money back on your old items too.

The date will be confirmed soon - we are working closely with the school so that we can be sure it will be before the booklists are due back.

But right now, you can go through all of your uniforms to see if there is anything you no longer need and encourage your kids to clean out their lockers and bring home books they are no longer using.

LIBRARY NEWS

Our Book clubbers have been busy over the last two weeks making bookmarks to send overseas as part of the Connecting Communities & Cultures initiative of the International Association of School Librarianship. The CSC Book club has been partnered with the Braće Radić school, located in the town of Đakovo in the heart of the historic region of Slavonia in eastern Croatia. In following the theme of Australian Identity, our students have exhibited amazing creativity and had a lot of fun designing and creating their bookmarks. Before the end of the year, the students, from year 7 to 11, should receive bookmarks made by the students from Đakovo.

Students run the Konjo Mama food van for Mental Health Week lunch!

Year 12 VCE/VET Hospitality (Kitchen Operations) students cooked and served deliciously healthy vegan lunch dishes from the Konjo Mama food van on Friday 13th October, as part of the Mental Health Week activities. The students worked very professionally and the food was very well received!
