New EAL Staff

New EAL Staff

We are fortunate to welcome new staff to the EAL team this term.

Mr. Jakob Bauer is a second generation Canadian. His grandparents emigrated to Canada from Poland, Germany, and England after World War Two. The surname ‘Bauer’ means ‘peasant’ or ‘farmer’ in German. In university, he studied Colonial and Gender History, Human Geography, and English. At Staughton College, Mr. Bauer teaches Year 7 English/SOSE, Year 9 SEAL SOSE, and Year 12 Geography.

Ms. Brooke Martinuzzo received a Bachelor of Science from Melbourne University, and later a Masters of Teaching at Monash University. She took a gap year between these courses to travel. Of the places she has been lucky enough to visit, her favourites would have to be Hoi An in Vietnam and Lake Bled in Slovenia.  She blames her Italian heritage for her love of eating; especially when there is pasta or dessert on offer. She currently teaches Maths and Science at Staughton College.

Ms. Megan Stuchbery was born in Australia, but the name Stuchbery originated from Bath in England. She has a Bachelor of Physical Education from Deakin University, and has worked at Staughton College for the past 9 years. As well as teaching PE and Health, Ms. Stuchbery has also taught Maths, Science and VCAL. She has travelled to Thailand, Vietnam, Cambodia, Italy, France, Spain, Holland, Germany, and America, and would love to continue to travel and explore different countries and cultures.

Ms. Jacinta Venuto's parents and grandparents emigrated to Australia from Italy in the '70s. She received a Bachelor of Education from Victoria University last year where she majored in Maths and Science (Physics), which is what she teaches at Staughton. She has tutored primary and secondary students in Maths since she was 16 years old. Ms. Venuto is still trying to learn to speak Italian! Even though she has never been to Italy, she has a strong connection to her heritage through her grandparents, and mostly through food and coffee.

Ms. Rachel Wilson was born in Australia, with Irish and Scottish heritage. She holds a Bachelor degree in Science (Biomedical Science) from Deakin University, an Honours degree in Virology from Monash University and a Master of Teaching from the University of Mebourne. Before entering teaching, Ms. Wilson worked as a research scientist, where she published several scientific papers on the Hepatitis B virus and the immune system.
