LUNCH WITH THE WINNERS

A group of Year 9 Carwatha College students had the opportunity to attend South East Business Network Lunch with the Winners. Sponsored by local business students had lunch and heard from MC  Glen Manton (retired AFL player and co founder White Lion),  Emerging Business’ Woman of the year Jacky Savage – whose innovation and entrepreneurship will see her launch her “band aid type” full body sensor thermometer in 18 months’ time. It is hoped that this technology will assist in the early detection of infection in cancer patients and prevent them from dying from this infection complication.

 

 

HIGHER EDUCATION REFORM PACKAGE – The Australian Government has announced a set of proposed reforms to the higher education sector within the 2017-2018 budget. If legislation is passed by the Senate, there are likely to be significant changes to the levels of student contributions and repayment thresholds, and the eligibility of non-Australian citizens for CSP courses. NAO ROBOT CODING MASTERCLASS – Victoria Polytechnic is running a one-day workshop for students interested in IT and coding. This hands-on masterclass equips students with fundamental coding skills to program a NAO humanoid robot using Choregraphe software and basic Python code. SWINBURNE ADVICE NIGHTS – Swinburne University is conducting Advice Nights offering assistance to Year 12 students. You can choose to attend a VTAC information session, consult academics, find out about alternative pathways to university or find out about Swinburne scholarships. ABCN – Entrepreneur Unearthed.

Congratulations to Year 10 student Kian who has made it through to the final round in the state wide competition. Kian has attended a number of workshops and presentations around developing his entrepreneurial concept and will now present in the city at EY (Ernst & Young). The winner will be flown to Sydney and visit the Commonwealth Banks innovation Hub. Good luck Kian – as a school community we are very proud of you for progressing to this final round!

 

 

Conoco Phillips Science camp

Congratulations to the Year 9 students attending the Swinburne Conoco Phillips camp this week. You have all put your selves forward to learn more about the emerging in demand STEM (Science, Engineering, Technology and Maths) area. Enjoy every minute – and huge thanks to Pam for organising our students to attend and the Noble Pa rk Rotary group for sponsoring our students!
