Wellbeing Overview

During Term Four, the Level Six learners will continue to enhance their wellbeing through the ‘You Can Do It’ program. In these sessions we endeavour to develop our learners to have a robust learning attitude, including confidence, a growth mindset, independence and a positive attitude towards risk taking and working tough.

This term the Year 6 cohort will explore resilience while settling back into their routine and the physical learning environment. There will be countless opportunities for collaboration and team work to build upon the learners’ social skills and cooperation. Teaching the students crucial life skills including independence, social skills and self-discipline will adequately prepare them for the next chapter of their life. Our Y.C.D.I program is incredibly flexible and versatile as it is structured to be dependent on the current cohort including opportunity for improvement and future learning.

Transition will be a key focus of our Y.C.D.I program this term with the fast approaching celebration and conclusion of their primary school experience. The transition process aims to ensure learners are set up for success for the next chapter of their education journey. Throughout this unit the learners will explore the various changes that are inevitable when beginning secondary school including expectations, social circles, homework and timetables. Learners will discover an abundance of practical strategies to help aid their understanding and management of their emotions and behaviours during this period of transition. With high school approaching quickly we will strive to ensure that the transition is seamless and positive. Through the Y.C.D.I program we will further prepare our learners with the strategies to feel empowered in their ability to be independent and resilient through life’s changes and challenges.

To support your child at home, parents and carers are encouraged to consider the parenting section of the Y.C.D.I website (https://www.youcandoiteducation.com.au/parents/) which has resources for effective discipline, stress reduction, motivation, conflict-resolution and relationship-building.

We are excited for a positive and memorable term ahead building resilience, perseverance and social skills with our learners.

On their first day to back at school for Term Four the learners are working collaboratively to write ‘Welcome back!’ without touching the pen.
