Art Room News

Hello Wonderful RHPS Artists,

It’s been a very busy fortnight in the art room.

We have had our Grade 6’s and their teacher’s making beautiful clay owls for their Legacy project. These will be glazed and fired in the coming weeks and displayed on our school walls for years to come. Everyone has enjoyed making their owls, especially Mr. Bradley who has made Iron Owl!

Our clay units have begun and every student will have the opportunity to make a creation and experience and learn the skills of using this wonderful medium. Our Preps artists are making Wacky Birds, the Grade 1/2’s are creating pinch pot monsters and our Grade 3/4 and 5/6 artists are creating an amazing Clay African Safari. I cannot wait to see how these turn out.

NAIDOC WEEK

This week is NAIDOC Week, NAIDOC Week celebrates the history, culture and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. NAIDOC Week is celebrated by all Australians and is a great opportunity to learn more about Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.

Grade 1/2T and IAC made a magnificent poster for our school to celebrate and show our respect to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. Students from 5/6S added beautiful markings in our wording to complete the artwork.

CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!!!!!

We have had remote learning success with many students entering the Speaking 4 the Planet Art Competition. This competition required students to create a piece of art in the theme of, I AM WATER. I am very pleased to announce that Lachlan Armstrong in 3/4A was the Runner Up in the Junior Section of this competition. We are thrilled for Lachlan and he should be very proud of his amazing efforts! This is the first time the competition has been run in Victoria and Lachlan created a fantastic piece of art. Congratulations Lachlan!!!

Have a wonderful week and we cannot wait to share our amazing artwork with you virtually this year.........watch this space!!!!!

Keep Creating,

Mrs. Granger
