MOORESVILLE

Hello everyone.

We’ve had some lovely weather lately. However, it is Melbourne so please check labels on jumpers and clothing. A reminder about being sun smart and checking hats are ready for the day.

I missed the last newsletter as I was home sick. I was reflecting on the return to onsite for our kids. It was different this time. I really felt the sensory overload – the school had been so quiet and empty for so long and suddenly everyone was back. Sights, sounds, smells – it was a tad overwhelming. Last time, we staggered the return and the younger students had a week to adjust. This time, we were all back in the school village together. Whew!

It’s been great to see how well most have adjusted. Us adults have really felt the impact of Covid-19 and 2020. I think our kids are quite resilient and I’m grateful for that.

Time Capsule:

I am compiling a 2020 zoom photo board and still gathering items for our 2020 time capsule. Hopefully, we never have a year like it and since we are living in history, I hope we can create memories for the grandkids of our current students to look back on and feel amazed at their memories and achievements. If your family would like to contribute to our RHPS 2020 time capsule, please see Mary.

SSG meetings

Term 4 SSG invitations are about to be sent home. The dates are November 24, 25, 26 [Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday] and November 30th [Monday]. All staff will be participating via zoom and families need to let me know if you wish to attend face to face, otherwise, it will be assumed you will attend via zoom.

Respectful Relationships:

Our school has been part of the training for Respectful Relationships. This is a Department initiative that looks at Respect, Relationships, Resilience and Rights. The school team is Belinda Granger, Mykaela Hodgett, Alarna Creed and myself. We have started our Action Plan and have sent out a survey to all staff. We will be teaching this program in 2021 at RHPS and there will be a parent information session.  It fits in beautifully with our Tribes and complements our RHPS values whilst focussing on gender equity.

School council Policies

School Council meets next week. We will be looking at the following policies:

  • Class Placement Policy; School Wellbeing Dog Policy; First Aid Policy; Ambulance Policy; Animals on school grounds Policy.
  • A policy summary will be placed on our web page and Compass for your access and information.

NAIDOC WEEK and KINDNESS WEEK and REMEMBRANCE DAY:

This week is NAIDOC week. Oonah are running a people’s choice Art Competition. Go to their FB page and vote for your choice.

Kindness week – our classes will be focussing on Kindness during their Tribes session this week. Tribes are still being held in classrooms rather than multi-age groups. Lisa, from Ripple Kindness, has 11 Covid Safe Acts of Kindness. These may be great for family kindness. https://ripplekindness.org/11-covid-safe-acts-of-kindness-to-make-a-difference-on-world-kindness-day/

Really proud of our School Captains who spoke to the school via the PA about Remembrance Day.

Flat Traveller Inquiry Project:

Our Grade 1-2 students participated in the Flat Traveller project in Term 3. Our Flat Travellers are slowly making their way back home to us. It’s very exciting. Check out the RHPS Flat Traveller blog at https://rhpsflattraveller.blogspot.com/  [It’s slow as there are a LOT of photos of our flat travellers around the world.]. Start at the menu on the right – About Us, Christmas around the World – and then head back to home and go to each blog post. Great family viewing : - )

Cheers everyone.

See you at the school gate :-)

Mary
