Christmas Generosity

This term our theme has been “Moving Forward” and one of the ways this has been embraced is finding ways that our community can help other people to “move forward”. We have done this in three ways.

Care Groups assembled Shoeboxes of Love. These were filled with items that will be useful to people who have been affected by natural disasters. Some Care Groups managed to fill more than one box, and some donated excess items to assist others. All together there were more than 35 boxes delivered to a local collection point where they will be collected and then distributed when they are needed.

Middle School families donated food and other supplies for needy families. This year has been particularly difficult for some people and the generosity of our Middle School families was outstanding. More food was donated this year than ever before and will help to bring Christmas cheer to many who are struggling. Lutheran Community Care at Ingle Farm will distribute the food in the coming weeks.

Two Villages supported the work of Australian Lutheran World Service. They raised money and then chose items from the Gifts of Grace catalogue to help those in need overseas. Well done to Mackillop and Spence for their thoughtful support of others.

Thank you to everyone who encouraged involvement or contributed to the above effforts. It is wonderful what can be achieved when we all work together!
