Open Days in 2021

It is time to prepare and plan for 2021 and we are excitedly awaiting our return of Open Days. At the moment every day is an open day through our wonderful website by taking a virtual tour and watching the story of us. We are excited to announce that we can invite you inside the gates and into the buzz of learning and laughter, friendship and flourishing from next week to take a real tour!

Prep Transition Program 2020

By now all of our Prep 2021 families would have received their transition bag and their allocated Transition day and time. These times have been given to all families individually. Please note your scheduled day and time. A reminder of all times are below. We can only have up to 10 onsite for each timeslot so it is important that you come at your allocated time.

Unfortunately, we cannot allow all parents in the group to come into the school learning spaces just yet, so we are encouraging one parent to attend. We will have a suitable area set up in our Community Hub for all of you to have a coffee or tea, chat to staff and to each other and have the chance to look at uniform items. We will be able to assist you with what to order from your order form (in your transition bag).

While you are doing this, our Prep staff and support staff will look after all children in the small group. We will be guided by their readiness and if there is any worry or your child becomes upset, we will ensure that modifications can be made in order for them to feel comfortable. Please do not worry.

Please understand that this is not our usual and preferred introduction to our school but we hope that it enables a personal and enjoyable visit in a small group environment that will enable you and your child to feel comfortable and familiar with our school.

If you missed out on a personal school tour before lockdown and have not yet seen inside our school, you will be offered a tour with me on your scheduled transition day. If you have already had a tour, please understand that priority will be given to those who have not had that opportunity.

On your transition day, lease arrive via the Buckley Street front car park and walk around the hall to Administration where you will be met by one of our student leaders.

Every day counts

Please remember that the roll is marked daily and attendance is a requirement. Remote learning has concluded. Coming to school everyday to learn is an absolute necessity. Our students cannot learn effectively if they have a significant number of days off, or even if they are regular late comers. Make sure you get behind Every Day Counts!!

Each day of school missed makes a difference, with the effect on learning accumulating over time. From an early age, if children are taught that they need to 'show up' for school and make a commitment, this positive mentality aids academic and career success and brings benefits in adulthood.

TO MAKE THE MOST OF THEIR POTENTIAL NO CHILD SHOULD MISS MORE THAN 2-3 DAYS OF SCHOOL PER TERM.

If your child is going to be absent from school, please call the school office on 95460044 by 9.00am. Alternatively, you can email the school to notify of your child’s absence at office@sanoblepark.catholic.edu.au, or log the absence via the link on the website.

If we do not receive notification of an absence by 9.30am we are required under regulations to message you at home or work to follow up the absence. Please notify the school of all absences. Please note that prolonged absences without notification will be followed up. Many days absent from school does impact on student learning and programs designed to support students.

The Kids Helpline has an online help domain now. Children who are not comfortable to call the 1800 number can go to the website (see the link above) and enter the age appropriate link to get Mental Health and Wellbeing support.

Supervision of students before 8.20am

Reminder! Students should arrive at school at or after 8:20am - not before. Teachers do not start actively supervising until then. The gates are not open until 8.20am. We are still finding more students arriving and being left unsupervised as early as 8.00am. Any student arriving before 8:20am is encouraged to stay with an adult parent/carer until the gates are opened. Please make sure your child is looked after properly until the staff on duty can do so.

Pope Francis relaunches the Global Compact on Education

Pope Francis recently relaunched the Global Compact on Education, appealing to every sector of society around the world to subscribe to, and provide, support. The Pope made the appeal in a video message during a virtual event at Rome’s Pontifical Lateran University.

The initiative promotes the values of care for others, peace, justice, goodness, beauty, acceptance and fraternity in order to build hope, solidarity and harmony everywhere. In his message, Pope Francis drew attention to the challenges and adverse effects of the COVID-19 crisis on educational systems worldwide.

He noted that online educational platforms have brought to light a marked disparity in educational and technological opportunities, forcing some 10 million children to leave school, apart from the already over 250 million school-age children excluded from all educational activities.

In a video message, the Pope said that education is above all a matter of love and responsibility handed from one generation to the next.

Social Inclusion Week – Connect, Collaborate and Celebrate!

Social Inclusion Week aims to help all Australians feel included and valued, giving everyone the opportunity to participate fully in society.

Social Inclusion Week is about connecting local communities, workmates, family and friends in order to build and strengthen relationships or networks, and address isolation and exclusion of those who may be marginalised.

This year, Social Inclusion Week will be held from Saturday 21 November to Sunday 29 November 2020.
