MPS Carnival 2015!

JAMS etc. FOR SALE!

Were you too busy on carnival day to make it to the jam stall?

Did you only buy one jar and regret it?

Do you wish you had the chance to stock up for the long winter ahead? Well you are in luck!

This Friday, 20 March from 3pm – 4pm, we will be selling the remaining stock from the carnival outside the staffroom.

What’s left you might ask?

We have fruit jams and marmalades, relishes and preserves. We also have the yummiest of all – salted caramel sauce and lemon curd….

We also have a few cookies in a jar bottles.

But what’s the price?

That’s the best part. We have reduced the cost.

Most items are $5. The cookies in the jar are $7.

Can’t make it school on Friday afternoon?

Well don’t despair. Just email ashamc@iprimus.com.au with your wish list and if we have what you want, I will put it aside for you.  Too easy!!

WHAT A DAY!

The Carnival has always been about bringing our MPS community, past and present, together to celebrate our beautiful school and the community we live in. This year we celebrated our cultural diversity.   I was extremely proud of both our school and our families on Saturday.  We can certainly rally behind a cause to get the job done.  I saw evidence of this in the planning, on the day and then again in the clean up!

Our profit figures are sitting at approximately $50 000, with a small margin allowed for any expenses and revenue that are still to trickle in.  The funds raised are paramount in helping the school fulfil their objectives, however it is more than just raising funds.

Thankyou to the Carnival Executive and over 150 others who, without your help the Carnival would not have been the success it was.

The MPS Carnival has become a highlight on our social calendars.  We have built momentum over the past 8 years and that is one of the reasons our carnival is such a success. In the words of the wise Farmer Daryl, ‘ This is the best fete I have seen in my 30 years of going to fetes’.

There are very few areas that I would change.  The format works!  I am therefore confident to hand over the reins of the MPS Carnival, knowing that this is not a daunting task and that we have a process in place to make the transition seamless.  A number of stallholders have already expressed an interest in repeating their stall in 2017, for our 100-year celebration.

Paul McVitty our official Carnival Photographer has captured some fantastic carnival moments.  You can view his photographs in the link provided.

Please note the link will only be advertised in the newsletter and will not be available via the carnival web page.  If your MPS friends do not read the MPS newsletter, I would encourage you to forward this newsletter to them.

Finally, it has been a pleasure to act as the front man of the MPS Carnival for the past 3 years.  My 4year old son said to me following the carnival, ‘That was fun Mum, can we do that again next week’. Hmmmmmm…………

Cass Williams

A SPECIAL THANK YOU

Thank you to a phenomenal woman.

These are the things you probably don't know about Cass Williams.

  • She has 3 incredible kids who have had to share their mum with this thing called ‘Carnival' for the past year.
  • Ava is in grade 5, Lily is in grade 2, and Liam is in 3 year old kinder.
  • Her husband David is possibly the most supportive husband I've ever known, but his work takes him overseas constantly, so Cass is often a single mum multi tasking like superwoman.
  • Both Cass and David are originally from interstate and have no family here to support them.

The last 6 months for Cass and I have been a fulltime round-the-clock endeavour. Cass has given me hundreds of cups of coffee, fed me lunch, calmed me down when I was mad (often), encouraged me when I felt low, directed me when I went off course, helped me when the load was too big, fought with me, hugged me and made up and taught me to be a better me.

Thank you Cassandra Williams for allowing me to be your 2IC for Carnival 2015.

It's been a pleasure.
