SEMESTER TWO STUDENT REPORTS

The Department of Education and Training has recently adjusted the expectations around student reporting for Semester 2 in recognition of the continued disruption caused by COVID-19.

During our return to onsite learning, we will continue to deliver a comprehensive teaching and learning program and to monitor the learning of each student, we will adjust our program to reflect the recent periods of remote and flexible delivery.

We will therefore be providing a simplified written report for Semester 2, 2020 focusing on what progress has been made and what has been achieved by each child throughout the semester.

Reports will include:

  • a description of the areas of the Victorian Curriculum taught
  • a comment on student participation and engagement in the learning programs offered -

For English and Mathematics:

  • student achievement information;
  • progress shown from the last time these curriculum areas were reported on;
  • a five-point scale.

For all other curriculum areas taught:

  • student achievement information
  • a short comment on progress and achievement across the Semester

More information will be shared with families over coming weeks.

GRADE STRUCTURES FOR 2021

Thank you to those families who have returned their intentions for 2021 form sent home last week via Compass. We have though, only had a small percentage of replies and we do require all families from Prep-Year 5 to complete the forms so we can plan for next year. We ask that families please complete the questionnaire by the end of this week.

 We have an expected 2021 enrolment of approximately 630 students. Exact student numbers are yet to be finalised but if enrolments are what I am anticipating we expect to run 29 classes, one more than this year. We will have 5 prep grades, 5 grade ones, 4 grade twos, 4 grade threes, 4 grade fours, 4 grade fives and 3 grade sixes. Further details will be shared with families prior to the end of term and like previous years children will know their 2021 class before we finish up for the holidays.

WORLD TEACHERS’ DAY – FRIDAY 30th OCTOBER

Friday 30th October is World Teachers’ Day. The UNESCO has declared World Teachers’ Day as the last Friday in October and it is a great opportunity to acknowledge the critical work teachers do each and every day and for us to say a particularly big ‘Thank You’ to the teachers at our school and acknowledge their professionalism and commitment to ensuring the students at Carnegie Primary School are cared for and well supported in their primary school education.  The teachers at CPS are a particularly amazing team and it is a privilege to be their principal 😊😊

LOVELY NEWS TO SHARE

Stephen Chilver one of our wonderful Education Support Officers and his partner Chloe warmly welcomed Birdie into the world last week.

I am sure you will join me in congratulating them on the safe arrival of their daughter. All are doing well.

SUN SMART FOR TERM FOUR

By now all students should be wearing their sun smart hat when playing outside at recess and lunch breaks. School hats can be purchased from Primary School Wear in North Road but are also available at the office. Plain navy sun smart hats that can be purchased from local department stores are also acceptable, particularly if you like to keep a spare one!
