Year 7/8 News
ASSISTANT PRINCIPALS NEWS
Linda Buckeridge
As we are all aware 2020 has been a year that has really tested us in many ways. However, I am so very proud of the Year 7 and 8 student, staff and parent community for their ongoing dedication to being positive and making the best out of what the year has had to offer.
Seeing everyone back in the green building this term has reminded all of the staff at CESC why we do what we do. It is just awesome to be connecting with our students and families again.
A huge thanks yet again to our students and their families for their ongoing commitment to getting the best out of their schooling experience this year, despite all of the challenges.
As the year comes to a close there are many events and experiences that will be presented to students in the coming weeks. Please see below for more details.
Celebration and Wellbeing Days
To celebrate the success of all that our Year 7 and 8s have achieved this year, we will be spending Thursday 3rd and Friday 4th December winding down the 2020 year. Over these two days we will have school based activities for students to participate in, including games, presentations and year level assemblies. Students will also spend this time preparing for the start of 2021.
Step Up
Step Up occurs at the end of every year. This year Step Up will take place over one week – Week 10 7-11 December. All students across the College complete Week 1 of the 2021 timetable and step up into their new year level with their new Home Groups. Students will be expected to complete the learning tasks and class activities assigned by their teachers during that week.
End of Year Activities and Last Week of Term
Week 11, 14-18 December is our final week of the year. In a normal, COVID free year many external activities are organised over a three-day period. In 2020 this has been reduced to a two-day activity period. There will be options for onsite activities and possibly some external based activities. More information will come very soon.
On the Wednesday, Thursday and Friday of the final week there will be an alternate timetable for students that attend onsite.
In case I do not get the chance to say this to you again, I would like to thank everyone for your efforts in making it through one of the strangest and most difficult years I have experienced in over 20 years in the education system. I am so very proud of everyone and look forward to a more stable and less eventful 2021!!
