From the Principal's desk

This week we began our Prep transition with small groups coming into the school to meet with their teacher,  Ms. Allen. Transition is an important element of our school program and we will continue to run the weekly sessions until the end of the term. We may even be able to run a more comprehensive program if some of the COVID-19 restrictions ease. Our Year 6 students also completed a transition activity last week with teachers from the Secondary School coming to us to deliver a session.

At the moment our teachers and support staff are working closely with students to identify gaps in learning and then address the gaps. We are currently occupying nearly every learning space in our school in an effort to give our children the very best education we can offer. Sue Herlihy, Faye Holmes, Amy Ellis, Jody Tilley, Shanae Mcpherson, and Denise Riordan are working in our intervention team to assist children to either reach their grade standard or extend beyond it. Our Speech Pathologists, Occupational Therapist, and Psychologist are also working one on one with our students. Our Wellbeing team is actively engaging with students to ensure their physical and emotional wellbeing is catered for. If you have any concerns about your child's learning or wellbeing, please do not hesitate to contact us.

Last week we farewelled Ms. Cottingham in style - with a fantastic Bookweek parade and activities. We thank her for her contribution to the school and wish her all the best in the future. We welcome Ms. Tilley, who has returned from parental leave and is now teaching in 23C with Mrs. Herlihy.
