Student Absences - COVID 19 Requirements

Students should be at school unless:

  • They have a medical certificate which states that they are unable to attend school due to an ongoing medical condition and the expected timeframe for this absence.
  • They are are currently unwell.

In accordance with advice from NSW Health, parents and carers are reminded not to send children to school if they are unwell, even if they have mild flu-like symptoms. All students and staff who are unwell, even with mild symptoms must be tested and provide a copy of their negative COVID-19 test result and be symptom free before being able to return to school.

Those families who decide not to have their child undertake a COVID-19 test result will not be permitted to return to school for a 10 day period. Additionally, they must be symptom free for at least 3 days before returning to school.

Students who have seasonal allergic rhinitis or another condition that presents similarly to flu-like symptoms are still required to get tested for COVID-19 and return a negative test result. Where their symptoms continue beyond 10 days, students should provide documentation from their GP confirming their symptoms are typical for their condition. If the student develops new or changed symptoms, they should get tested for COVID-19.

Students may regularly see medical practitioners, who could determine that a COVID-19 test is not required. This must be documented and provided to the school to confirm that the student’s symptoms do not warrant a COVID-19 test. The certificate must also indicate the date that the student is expected to return to the school.

2021 Student Leavers & Late Returners

It is that time of year, where we start making plans for 2021. In order for our plans to remain reasonably organised for a successful start to the year, we need to know which families will not be returning to LPS and those students who will be returning, but will be starting after school begins. Students in Years 1 - 6 will start the school year on Friday 29 January.  If you will be away at this time, you will need to notify us.

If your child is not returning to LPS or are returning late in 2021, please complete the form at:  https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLScHPik_Nz9FkE3898W-_8J_XuHZQBwya51pllfxuNjs1sz5RQ/viewform?usp=sf_link
