To our fellow Chelt students and our college staff,

I know it may sound cliché but boy oh boy, what a year it has been! A year full of challenges we could never have even imagined presented themselves right at our front doorsteps, literally. However, through the constant challenges of an interrupted year of on campus learning and learning from home, our true selves have shone through. Never have we been more impressed with a group of students and especially our year 12 cohort following the conclusion of this year.

For us year 12’s I think there is no doubt that at times throughout the year we have all felt like picking up our laptops and throwing them out our bedroom windows, giving up on our final year of schooling but our resilience has truly paid off. In a school system where we are ranked against our peers for our final scores it is ultimately the fact that we have all worked together to get each other through the year that we are able to get the scores we have so long strived for. Now the final challenges of our end of year exams loom but never has a year level ever been more readily prepared for what lies ahead. So a big congratulations is due for reaching the final challenges of our secondary school story and a big good luck to whatever the next chapter holds for each of us.

We all know that none of us could have gotten to where we are today without our teachers. From our year 7 Italian teachers to our year 9 PE teachers, our year 12 maths and English teachers and to our principals and other groups of staff, every single one of you have all played such a major role in our education and for that we are eternally grateful. Although at times we may have pushed you to your wits end, we thank you for persisting with each one of us and believing in us and our goals like no other. It may seem as if your countless hours of personal time spent marking tests, reading emails and making PowerPoints have gone unnoticed but I can assure you they have not and although we may not say it enough we thank you for the work you put in, it will not be forgotten.

And lastly, congratulations and good luck is due to those next in line to take over the prestigious role of being college captain. Whilst not a single person on the planet knows what lies ahead next year, if this year is any indication of what is to come we’d like to take this time to perhaps give you an even bigger good luck. The task of being college captain may seem a daunting position to take on when you’re also dealing with the common struggles of year 12 however we implore you to just enjoy and make the most of the experience. We couldn’t be more at ease knowing that this leadership position is moving on to very safe hands.

So in a year of final goodbye’s, one last final goodbye and thank you is due on behalf of the year 12 cohort to this wonderful school and the opportunities and experiences it has given us.

Thank you.
