From the Acting Headmaster

What an exciting week we have had at Blue Mountains Grammar School. A series of events, opportunities, and community engagement as we run into the end of the term. In particular, we have had the Senior School Athletics Carnival in beautiful weather at Glenbrook Oval. There was a significant level of colour and energy that matched the House spirit of the day. Thank you to all our staff and parents who gave of their time to ensure a special day for our Senior School students.

I then also had the opportunity to enjoy the musical performance of our Junior School students in Joseph’s Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat. Coming from a family of performers (not me though) I love to go to the theatre and being a part of the audience for this performance had me smiling and tapping my foot constantly. Is there anything better than watching a student performance getting underway? It is among the top of my list of school events. Congratulations to everyone involved – your effort and support provided our students with an opportunity to create memories that will stay with them for some time.

Over the coming Newsletters I will be communicating some very interesting findings from the most recent McCrindle Research into the Australian education sector as they write the Education Future Report. This is an important insight for educators as they plan for the changing nature of learners, differences in generational change and trends in the attitudes of young people to various important topics.

As we work through some of the findings from this research, I will also be hosting several ‘Meet and Greets’ next term. The purpose of these events is to present the findings to parents and community members to explain what we are focused on in response to this research at Blue Mountains Grammar School.  At these evenings (and mornings) our Executive team will each share a little about their background and what excites them about the future for our School. These events will be held early in Term 3. We will certainly keep you posted. I encourage you to prioritise coming along.

I am excited that I have the opportunity to remain as the Acting Headmaster through to the end of the year and, as always, I invite parents to engage often with our School in any way they can.
