School Council Report

Hello all,

Prior to Tuesdays school council meeting we heard from Keith as he presented the annual report for the school which had some great results compared to similar schools and well above the state average for the datasets surveyed. Congratulations to the staff, parents and students on such a positive report.

After a tumultuous couple of years our literacy and wellbeing have excelled and it was great to hear that the teachers love working here too which is reflected in the experience and retention of the staff at Lee St. Government funding doesn't provide enough resources to support such an experienced workforce resulting in a small deficit for the year.

In spite of another year without a fête it's been a great year for fundraising, many thanks go out to all those who contributed to, participated in, and organised these events. We have some great things coming up in the second half of the year including the school Art Show and Colour Run that will be run without all the little trinkets. After a substantial delay last year's production of Matilda is ready to be released! We will show the kids and hopefully we can organise a screening next term (links will be provided for parents to watch at home). 2023 will see us hit the ground running as we organise a fête for March.

We also took some time to relate how proud we are of the RAP (Reconciliation Action Plan) and the extraordinary and sustained effort to normalise reconciliation for our next generation of leaders including our indigenous gardens, acknowledgement of country, flying the flags, renaming our learning and meeting spaces, and participating in smoking ceremonies to name a few. So much so that we think we deserve an award! Thanks again to everyone who makes this possible.

Our astroturf is nearing the end of its life and we will need to start work on a grounds masterplan to replace it, including raising funds. If you see any grants or programs we could get involved with please forward them on to us.

We are now at the end of term 2 and the student school reports are about to be uploaded. As council we would appreciate any feedback from parents and teachers regarding the format of these reports. I believe that parent teacher interviews will take place next term.

I hope you all have a safe and enjoyable break.
