Principals' Update

End of term 2

The term draws to a close and thankfully once again, we have been able to continue to remain on site, learning together. I want to thank everyone in the community for observing  protocols regarding COVID once again by keeping us informed of positive cases and quarantining as required. These actions help us to remain safe as a school community.

Term two has been short and busy with a great deal happening around CNPS, and once again the whole community has pulled together for the good of the school. Fundraising was a focus, with our trivia night, cook book sales, and federal election stalls being highly successful. Student fundraisers have also been underway with the winner of our Pet Pawtrait fundraiser being announced at tomorrow’s assembly. The SRC have raised $367.00 through this for Pets Haven Foundation

We successfully conducted our NAPLAN testing program with students in years 3 and 5, and the Attitudes to School Survey was run with our year 4, 5 and 6 students. The highlight of the term has surely been the students inquiry into Indigenous Culture. A truly wonderful example of community engagement in education has taken place, building on some years of hard work by many staff and community members. As well as a rich classroom inquiry, our school is being transformed through the work of the Reconciliation Action Team. Our gardens have been refreshed with new native plants, students have created their own class Acknowledgements of Country, our renamed buildings have been signposted beautifully, and we were all blessed to take part in a smoking ceremony conducted by Auntie Zita Thomson and her daughter Simone. I hope everyone has the opportunity to take a break over the next two week and that you are able to take some time with family and friends. Be safe and we will see you next term

NAIDOC Week

A reminder that NAIDOC week takes place from the 3rd to the 10th of July. There will be many events taking place during the week and we encourage everyone to explore the website https://www.naidoc.org.au/

Reports

Semester Reports will be live on Compass this afternoon. You can locate your child’s report on their Compass page by clicking on ‘Achievement Reports’ and then Semester 1 2022. They can sometimes take a few minutes to generate. We welcome general feedback and questions on the reports, and these can be communicated to Keith. Specific questions regarding your child’s report should be communicated to classroom teachers.
