Principal Post

Dear Families,

It's hard to believe that we are at the end of another term! It certainly been a interesting term in many ways!  We have negotiated the challenges of COVID-19, flu viruses and other bugs! However, I congratulate all the students, staff and families for their resilience.  I hope that as we look back across these last nine weeks, we can say that the term has been positive both socially and academically for all students.

As we come to the last couple of days of Term 2,  its a good conversation to ask your children to list the various achievements and enjoyable activities  across the term.

The PARENT TEACHER CONFERENCES that began yesterday and continue today provide a great opportunity to enter into conversation with your child and teacher(s) about their learning experiences at school. Of course students learn and progress at different rates  but hopefully we can all see clear areas of development and improvement.

I recognise that some families are away or could not make an interview this week, but in valuing the home /school partnership, we have the expectation that every family will see their child's teacher for a Parent Teacher INTERVIEW. It is imperative that you do so by early Term 3.

As we come to the end of the term, I reiterate that it is important that every child is happy coming to school and that they feel a a sense of belonging and connection to St John Vianney's. My observation is that generally our students are very happy and do enjoy their learning and friendships.  Naturally there will always be ups and downs and that is part of growing up and indeed school life and life in general! When our children are met with a difficult situation or challenge it is important to support them to persevere and and have another try.

I wish every one a very safe and relaxing break from the routines of school life!  We look forward to welcoming everyone back at the beginning of Term 3.

Term 2 concludes at 2:30 pm on Friday 24th June

Term 3 begins at 8:50 am on Monday, July 12th
