Aboriginal Student Program

Police Visit

On Tuesday morning during PCG, the Aboriginal students were blessed to have Inspector Troy Douglas and Senior Sergeant Daniel Strachan come in and present to them. Both officers spoke about their time in the Police Force, their backgrounds working in Aboriginal Communities and what prospects the boys could have if they were to join to force.

There were a range of questions asked by the boys from what’s the best thing you’ve done in your career, to how do you look after your mental health doing such a high-pressure job, to have you ever had to use your taser on someone? The boys learnt about their rights, that no one is above the rule of law, and most importantly to use your words to deescalate situations, not your actions. Once again thank you to Inspector Douglas and Senior Sergeant Strachan for taking the time out of their busy week to speak to the boys.
