Star Gazing Night
To celebrate National Science Week this year, we will be holding a “Star Gazing Night” for Fisher students on Thursday the 24th of August. It will be held on the oval at Lockleys North Primary School, running from 7pm until 8.30pm.
Members from the South Australian Astronomical Society will have high-tech telescopes to enable the students to inquire into our local sky environment.
Dean Davidson from Skywatch will be guiding students through a tour of the night sky, exploring constellations and sharing astronomy facts and knowledge. Students will also be able to engage in activities with Paul Curnow, Astronomy Lecturer at the University of South Australia who specialises in Aboriginal astronomy.
To attend this exciting event, there will be a small cost of $6.50 which is payable to the Front Office by Friday 18th August, Week 4 (invoices have been sent home with students).
This is an incredible opportunity for students to learn about astronomy from our expert visitors and we hope to see many of our 5-7 students at this event.
We will also have the Skywatch MirrorDome visiting for the R-4 students which will occur during school time in week 6. There will be more details to follow regarding this event soon.
