CHS Knockout Girls Tennis
Playing tennis in Blayney on a cold Autumn day does not sound like an ideal activity. However this is exactly what four girls from Cowra High School did on Wednesday 8 May.
Congratulations to the girls team of Mikelli Garratt, Michelle Woods, Zara McKenzie and Kara Hinderager who played with determined effort in very cold conditions for Round 2 of the Combined High Schools Knockout Girls Tennis.
It was a chilly 7 degrees at the Blayney courts. Although the Cowra High School girls were defeated 42 games to 24 games by Blayney High School, they played well as a team and this will be beneficial for their next competition during the Camden exchange program in Week 6 this term.
Fast 5's Netball
Two teams of students travelled to Dubbo for a Fast 5’s Netball competition on Wednesday 15 May. It was a very early start for our students, who were on the bus at 5:45am, keen for some netball.
It was a good day of competition for our seniors who came up against Dubbo Senior College, Bathurst High School, Canobolas Rural Technology High School and Gilgandra High School.
Our Students conducted themselves with upmost respect and integrity and represented our school with pride.
Sticks to Stadium
Four Cowra High students were fortunate to attend the Sticks to Stadium excursion hosted by the Penrith Panthers.
Sonny Eastwood, Ryan Carroll, Tyson Williams and Charlie Jeffries joined eight other students from the area for a tour through the playing facilities and world class training academy. Students met players, witnessed the NRL team captain’s run and attended the NRL game verse the Warriors on Friday evening. They also tried their hand at aqua golf and Timezone games and activities.
It was a very interesting excursion and gave students an insight into the running of an NRL club and the various career opportunities and pathways that are open to people with an interest in Rugby League.
Cowra High would like to thank Penrith Panthers football department, particularly Mr Glen Liddiard (Penrith Panthers Indigenous Welfare Officer) who was the perfect guide, Mr Dean Murray (ACLO), Mr Barry Merritt (Forbes High) and Mr Warren McKenzie (Canowindra High) for their time in organising the excursion and chaperoning the students for the three days.
