The Ag Farm has been a busy place....

This edition sees Cowra High students involved with the intensive pig industry through the Youth Stud Pig Show at Bedgerabong as well as Meat and Livestock Australia visiting the school for a Virtual Experience.

Bedgerabong Youth Stud Pig Show

On the Wednesday 8th May, Mr. Garling and 21 keen young agriculturalists attended the Youth Stud Pig Show at Bedgerabong NSW. This excursion was an opportunity for the students to become aware of how intensive and reactionary the pig industry is.

Students gained hand on experiences in pig preparation and handling as well as industry insight from guest speakers covering market demand, constraints and the industry outlook.

Meat & Livestock Australia’s Prime Lamb Production

Virtual Reality Paddock to Plate.

Students were treated to a Virtual Reality experience by MLA on Wednesday 15 May.  The VR Bus rolled in ready for our budding agriculturalists to gain a holistic overview of the Prime Lamb industry.

Students were all in groups for 20 minute sessions and virtually taken through the lamb production process from the paddock and lamb selection, through the sale yards and abattoirs and back onto the supermarket shelf.  This was a great experience for all students showing the full production supply chain for the prime lamb industry.
