WW1 Living History Presentation
Life size replica trench displayed
On Monday 6 May, Shane from WW1 Living History visited Cowra High School with his presentation on the conditions Australian soldiers faced in the trenches on the Western Front. Shane has an excellent display to go with his presentation, which includes a life size replica trench that is set up with weapons and tools that were that he has collected from this time period that were actually used by Australian soldiers in the trenches.
Students were called upon to choose individual items that interested them, and this was followed by an explanation by Shane as to what purpose these items served in the trenches. Some students were lucky enough to help with demonstrating how particular tools and weapons were used during World War One.
This was an excellent opportunity for the students of Cowra High School to learn about conditions experienced by Australian soldiers on the Western Front, and an engaging and positive learning experience was had by all those that attended.
