GAT EXAM FEEDBACK

Congratulations to our Year 11 and 12 students who sat the GAT! It was fantastic to hear the Chief Supervisor comments on their exceptional behaviour and positive approach to the exam.

With the test being run over 3 hours, it requires a high level of motivation and self-control, which our students certainly displayed – well done!

The experience has certainly given our students a better understanding of what to expect from the exams at the end of the year.

MID-YEAR EXAMS

Thank you to all Year 10, 11 and 12 students who took mid-year exams seriously and put their best effort in completing them!

The exams have been a great opportunity for the students to understand:

  • revision strategies;
  • what skills are required for success;
  • the importance of time management skills;
  • areas of strengths and areas for improvement.

Senior Pathways Sub-school Team are encouraging all students to reflect on their experiences and review teachers’ feedback which is a valuable learning opportunity.

The mid-year exam results are available as a Learning Task on Compass for all subjects.

DEAKIN UNIVERSITY PRESENTATION

During Mentor Session on 19 June Year 11 and 12 students had a presentation by Deakin University about their pathway choices. Some of the topic discussed were:

  • Pathway selection;
  • How to choose the best course for you;
  • What to expect when you are in tertiary education;
  • Double degrees options;
  • Flexibility in changing your pathway once you are in tertiary education;
  • Services available to students;
  • Approaches to establishing your social environment.

This was a valuable opportunity for our students to reflect on their career and course choices and get a glimpse of what life can be like once they finish school, as well as ask questions and listen to the experiences of the two students who currently study at Deakin.

In 2019 we will be hosting another group of students and are currently looking for host / home-stay families. The students are due to arrive on 26/7 and depart on 23/8. Host families will be paid $37 a night to house and feed the student. If you are interested please contact Gavan McCabe  at the college.
