iPad News and Reminders

It has been great to see and hear that the majority of students meeting their obligations with the iPads by making sure they arrive to school with the iPad charged and in working order. However, there has been a concerning spike in damage and missing iPads. It has not been pleasant to inform families that they have to repair or replace the iPads at a cost of up to $480. Please ensure you continue to monitor the condition of your child’s iPad. If the iPad is damaged, please seek to repair it immediately.

Students also need reminding that the iPad is on loan to them and that school staff have the have the right to remove or disable iPads if students are not following their teacher’s instructions or not using the iPad as directed. Please support us in helping your child understanding their obligations.  Misuse will lead to iPads being held at the office until a parent/guardian collects the iPad. Please remind your child that they have agreed to the ICT Acceptable Use Policy that is in their school diary.

Please be aware that students are permitted to take iPad home over January school holidays if $100 of the curriculum charges are paid by Friday 29th November 2019. If payment is not received by this date, iPads will be collected from Thursday 5th December 2019 for auditing.

Teachers have been notified to adjust programs in case your child will be without an iPad for the remainder of the year.

Thank you for your continued support of the 1:1 iPad program. Without the strong support, we would not be able to deliver the incredible learning opportunities provided through the use of iPads.

YEAR 8 LA TROBE UNIVERSITY DISCOVERY DAY

As part of The Lakes’ Transition & Pathways Program, a full-day excursion has been organised to enable Year 8 students to visit the La Trobe University Bundoora Campus. During this visit students will have the opportunity to gain an insight into areas of study, pathways into university courses, explore the university facilities and grounds in small groups with Lakes’ staff and university guides, and have their lunch on the university grounds, brought with them or purchased, before returning to school. This is an excellent opportunity for students to consider possible future endeavours, and subject selection in their senior secondary years.

Permission to be given prior to Monday 18th November 2019.

No late permission can be accepted.

Song Dance and Drama Night

Last night, we were thrilled to host Song, Dance and Drama Night. The Lakes students were outstanding with their performances and bravery in facing such a large audience. Our Performing Arts Captains Taylah and Emily were poised and demonstrated their growing confidence in front of the microphone.

We would like to thank parents and families for coming along to support the students and we hope you enjoyed the show.

For those watching from the live stream, we want to apologise for the filming direction. We will be working to improve this for next time.
